Hot Potato (Projectile)

Calls something that is on Kiln's roadmap. Parts of it may already run.

Evidence

Ran on Kiln's test stand (2026-11-04): HotPotato did not start: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/minecraft/world/item/ProjectileItem; HotPotatoClient did not start: java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: Class net.minecraft.core.registries.BuiltInRegistries does not have member field 'net.minecraft.core.DefaultedRegistry ENTITY_TYPE'.

What it needs from Kiln

  • Mixin
  • net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.EntityRendererProvider
  • net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.EntityRendererProvider.Context
  • net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.EntityRenderers

  • net.minecraft.core.Position
  • net.minecraft.stats.StatType

  • net.minecraft.world.item.ProjectileItem
  • net.minecraft.world.level.block.BaseFireBlock
  • net.minecraft.world.phys.EntityHitResult
  • BuiltInRegistries.ENTITY_TYPE
  • Registries.ENTITY_TYPE
  • SoundEvents.SNOWBALL_THROW
  • Entity.igniteForSeconds()
  • Player.awardStat()

On the roadmap: Minecraft's libraries and client API (0.2), Code next to data (0.3), Mixin (0.5)

In the author's words

Hot Potato adds a throwable potato crafted with a lava bucket and potato which sets the area around its impact on fire and ignites entities it directly hits.
